On my first birthday without my dad, I am reminded of his kindness and generosity when it came to celebrating occasions and the achievements of others. He was a formidable host, leaving no stone unturned to put on the perfect party. His attention to detail was second to none and everyone loved his company. All the children in the family will no doubt remember the many personalised cakes he had made for them over the years, whether it was for a birthday or a graduation or even a 'welcome to the world' cake when they were born. Before he passed away, he expressed that one of his regrets was that he couldn't treat us to an Eid meal, like he had done for so many years. Dad cherished any opportunity to give to others - and wherever he is now, I hope he is getting all that he deserves.
